German Universities Liaison Offices

German University Liaison Offices New York City

Since 2005 the German House New York has been home to liaison offices of German universities. With the support of DAAD, 16 individual German universities and universities of applied sciences are represented here, either individually or within consortia, working closely with all other GCRI-affiliated institutions in New York. Their goals range from intensifying research collaboration between German universities and North American partners, enhancing student exchange and increasing the numbers of international students and faculty at German institutions of higher education to building strong transatlantic alumni networks. The liaison offices are excellent sources of information on exciting research and study opportunities in Germany as well as gateways to connect with scientists at these institutions.

German University Alliance

The German University Alliance is the joint North American liaison office of Freie Universität Berlin and Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. It serves as a vital link between these two leading German universities and research universities, colleges and other partners in the U.S. and Canada by initiating and reinforcing joint research projects and scientific collaborations, supporting student and faculty exchange, promoting the study opportunities both institutions offer, and encouraging American scholars and scientists to engage in research at these distinguished universities. In addition, the office reaches out to alumni of both institutions in order to reconnect them with faculty and fellow students and create a truly international network. Finally, the German University Alliance also collects and relays information on current developments in the fields of higher education and research between Germany and North America, be it funding opportunities, new models of cooperation, or trends in the world of study abroad.
